Beta elastin is fractionated from Elastin-Soluble (EPC No. ES12) by the coacervation method of Partrige et al. (1).
In the method, the coacervated alpha elastin is separated from the soluble beta elastin at pH 4.7 and 50° C. Coacervation is repeated two times more in order to improve the purity of the beta fraction. Beta Elastin does not coacervate.
Beta Elastin has a molecular weight range of 3-10 KD.
Beta elastin is a salt-free, lyophilized water soluble powder.
