Description

Soluble from calf skin, Type I. PEPSIN TREATED.
Prepared with modifications of the method of Gallop and Seifter (21). In the method, fresh calf skin is extracted to remove non-collagen proteins. The soluble collagen is extracted with 0. 2 M HAc pH 3.5 containing pepsin and precipitated as fibrils against 0.02 M Na₂HPO₄. Soluble in 0.01 M to 0.5 M acetic acid, max. 10 mg/ml.

Soluble in 0.075 M sodium citrate pH 3.7 and in dilute acetic acid, 0.01 M to 0.5 M.
