Soluble from calf skin, Type I. PEPSIN TREATED.
Prepared with modifications of the method of Gallop and Seifter (21). In the method, fresh calf skin is extracted to remove non-collagen proteins. The soluble collagen is extracted with 0. 2 M HAc pH 3.5 containing pepsin and precipitated as fibrils against 0.02 M Na2HPO4. Soluble in 0.01 M to 0.5 M acetic acid, max. 10 mg/ml.
Soluble in 0.075 M sodium citrate pH 3.7 and in dilute acetic acid, 0.01 M to 0.5 M.
