SOURCE. Rat pancreas.

SPECIFICATIONS.
Chromatographically purified, salt-free, water soluble and lyophilized.
Single band on SDS electrophoresis, optimum pH 8.8 and molecular weight 25700. Free of trypsin and chymotrypsin. Store at 5°C. Stable 9-12 months at 5°C.

ACTIVITY.
1.9 - 2.1 units per mg of protein. one unit will hydrolyze 1 µmole of Suc-(Al)₃-pNA per minute at pH 8.8 and 37°C.

ASSAY.
Prepare 1 mg/ml in 50 mM NaOAc pH 5 containing 200 mM NaCl. E₂₈₀ = 17.36, A₂₈₀ x 0.58 = mg/ml. Use 5 to 10 µgm in the assay buffer; 100 mM Tris pH 8.8 at 37° C containing 0.2 mM Suc-(Al)₃-pNA.
